Muttiah Muralitharan, the Star of Stars

Srilankan Spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (SL), 36, has achieved a new height in the cricket world by taking the wicket of Gautam Gambhir (IN) on 5th February 2009 in Colombo, scoring 503 wickets in Test Matches.  Sending Gambhir to the pavillion, Murali has broken the ODI world record set by Wasim Akram of 502 wickets in the ODI career. Wasim had scored 502 wickets in 356 ODI matches whereas Murali made it just in 328 wickets.

Murli has already the record of most wickets in Test Cricket under his name. He has snatched in 125 Test Matches a total of 769 wickets. Both Test and ODI wickets make altogether a mountain of 1272 wickets.

He and Sachin Tendulkar (IN) are the top scorers worldwide who scored the most in the both formats of cricket i.e. ODI and Test Matches.

Congratulations Murali !!!
